“Prodesse quam conspici” (“To produce rather than to be conspicuous”) is a fitting credo for the American Midwest as a whole, and for Architect Steve Nuhn. Steve, a Missouri native, brings an unwaveringly pragmatic approach to creating exceptional designs that blend seamlessly into the surrounding area. His work reflects a superior standard of quality that can only be achieved through extensive experience and a clear understanding of all phases of the architectural and construction process.
Steve received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He then worked for his family owned contracting business in Kansas City before starting his own successful architectural practice in Missouri, which he enjoyed for over a decade. Steve has worked on a wide range of residential and commercial projects, including custom homes and a number of medical, office, and educational buildings. His comprehensive background in both design development and administrative procedure is the foundation that has propelled Steve to be the accomplished architect he is today.
In 2018, Steve’s courageous and enterprising spirit led him to sunny Santa Barbara where he instantly became an invaluable member of the Cearnal Collective team. Outside of the office, Steve’s activities are usually centered around community involvement. In Missouri, he served on a variety of local organizations and volunteer groups, including the Historic Preservations Commission. Steve now looks forward to dedicating this same level of support to his new hometown. In addition to bringing his strong “Midwestern work ethic”, Steve moved West with his two teenage daughters, Ella and Caroline. Together, the three of them have integrated into the California lifestyle as seamlessly as one of Steve’s designs.
