As a skilled and accomplished architect, Jeff has a natural ability to pair fundamental elements of design with innovative concepts. He consistently stays true to his focus on quality and function, with an awareness of environmental impact, though his style ranges from traditional Spanish Colonial to modern architecture. Jeff cuts through the challenges and complexities of his projects with a straightforward approach and a clear vision of the finished product. His incredible eye for detail and contemporary architectural techniques have led him to design some of Santa Barbara’s most notable buildings.
Jeff began his career in architecture in 2003 when he received his Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. His senior design thesis focused on mixed-use urban infill and its impact and influence on a city. This understanding of architecture’s influence on the community continues to play a large role in the way he conceptualizes his work. Jeff earned his license to practice architecture in the state of California in 2009
Currently, Jeff is a partner at The Cearnal Collective where he has been an integral part of our design team. His strong graphic, 3D computer-modeling and design skills allow our ideas and designs to be better visualized. Over his time with the firm, Jeff has enjoyed working on a wide range of projects. He received several accolades for his role in designing Alma Del Pueblo, which includes the popular Santa Barbara Public Market. Jeff was also one of the first architects in Santa Barbara to successfully implement the AUD Incentive Program, which aims to provide affordable housing opportunities to the City’s workforce.
A Bay Area native, Jeff is an obsessive 49er and Giants fan,. He lives a healthy, balanced lifestyle with his wife Kara, and their two kids. On his days off you can usually catch him on the sidelines of his son’s baseball games.
