The proposed SoMo Funk project will repurpose the centrally located block on E. Mason St. and Gray Ave, in the heart of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone. This is a project made for connectivity, activity, and creativity with its interwoven and walkable paseos , engaging public courts, and a surrounding environment of about 100,000 square feet of commercial spaces, restaurants, and artist studios. SoMo exemplifies the idea of an authentic, vibrant, and creative Californian lifestyle while also paying homage to the history of the funk zone and it’s classic factory construction with the use of light industrial architecture and steel. This project is sure to provide the people of Santa Barbara with a beautiful piece of functional art that contains over 100 new housing units, and plenty of parking.
